What is AMIE?

AMIE means “Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers“. AMIE is a professional certification given by IEI. You will got AMIE Degree when you qualify Section A, Section B and the Project Work, Laboratory Experiments examination of the Institution. If you pass both sections of the examination and submit Project Work then students becomes an AMIE.

AMIE is equivalent to B.E means After qualify AMIE you become a Bachelor of Engineering and you are eligible to participate in all exam, those conduct on the basis of B.E/B.Tech.AMIE holders students can sit in GATE Exam and the GATE score is used for admissions to Post Graduate Programmes (ME, M.Tech, MS, ) in institutes like IITs and IISc etc with financial assistance offered by MHRD.

AMIE Eligibility

  • AMIE not provide classroom , its only conduct exams and provide certificates. Maximum working students are doing B.Tech from AMIE , Because he/ she have no time to attend classroom, But he/she can continue her study .
  • The Students must obtained in the 10+2 examination or its equivalent with 45% marks in aggregate in science subjects (PCM) and pass in English as well as 45 %in overall aggregate.
  • The candidate should have passed a diploma examination in engineering or technology or its equivalent recognized by the Council of AICTE & State Govt technical education.

AMIE Exam Pattern 2017

The AMIE examination conducted by IEI Kolkata, the pattern of AMIE exam divided into 2 parts which are Section A and Section B.

Section A and B examination of AMIE held twice in a year, mostly in the month of June and in December and known as also summer and winter examination respectively.

Section A Exam Pattern

  • AMIE section A exam is basically common for all those students who want make their future in Engineering with AMIE degree
  • There are separate examinations for diploma holder and non- diploma holders.
  • For diploma holders only 4 papers in section A and for non – diploma holders 10 papers in section a examinations.

Section B Exam Pattern

  • After completed section A of AMIE candidate has to complete a project work within a year
  • On the basis of professional competence report, students can appear for the section B exams.
  • Section B have 9 papers in which 6 are compulsory 3 are optional which you have to choose from 3 out of 5 from rest three optional group
  • After Section A of AMIE students can choose particular engineering program
